Difficult to write and tell when the events are under an acceleration as in the past few days. Istanbul, then, is a city voted to surprises, unexpected, improvisation. So I had to wait this idle and quiet day on the banks of the Saar to summarize the recent events.
The Bandista have finished recording the new album. The mixing and mastering, the last 2 steps very important steps in the processing of an album, will be made in Naples, in the “Beat Box studios”, among the best in the Italian underground scene. They leave on the 20th, Istanbul-Bari, low cost flight, then train to Naples: Özhan, Çağdaş, Ceyhun. What envy, I'd like me to be with them. Luca is waiting for them in Naples, and after some time I hope he is to join us in Istanbul.
Beside this, I must also tell that the contrabass is returning to be a hero in my life. How much dust it gathered in these years! It was like an ornament in the rooms that I have changed in Rome. I played it, but you can not play it alone in a room, it needs a company of friends, a reason to cheer. In these last weeks, the contrabass has found all these things. Sultan Tunç, a turkish rapper born in Germany who lives in Istanbul, invited me to join the band. We are restarting work again, arranging, setting bases, finding new musicians. So for the moment the work is hard but interesting. The musical horizon within which we are moving is a rap-jazz-oriental, perhaps a little complicated in words, but in practice the ideas seem accurate. I must also say that the musicians I'm playing with are all very talented people. And Tunç also knows how to do his job.
But something else must be reported. Our room for rehersals is perhaps the most beautiful in Istanbul. It’s a small apartment that we are setting up (but now already running) in a building whose windows overlook the Galata Tower, built by the Genoese colony in 1348. The bohemian atmosphere, the coming and going of people on the street, the glance, everything is very special. The birth of the new band is one of the reasons why I am now in Germany. In fact, on monday I will meet with Tunç in Marburg and then continue to Berlin together for a few meetings in radio and agencies to organize concerts, to set up a turne in Germany in June. So here I am on the banks of the Saar.
After 2 intensive weeks in Istanbul, after the revival of "contrattack" (as Tunç calls the contrabass), after the shootings of the movie that will continue once back, the Bandista departing for Naples, this tranquility in this beautiful town on the German border with France comes welcome. And then this morning on awakening I did find the Easter chocolate and a note: "Guten morgen Miche:) I hope you find everything, if not, you can call or sms anytime ... have a wonderful day, I try to be back soon. Bis bald! Annik (you can eat more than that of course:))”. In fact, in Istanbul Easter eggs are not any.
Yesterday, on the S-Bahn in Frankfurt I was still listening the Beatles and I realized that, thinking about it, everything is amazing, life is running ahead and I lag in an attempt to keep pace and without having time to ask myself "why". But perhaps that is not necessary, "there will be an answer" ...
"Let it be", the Beatles:
<<When I find myself in times of trouble,
mother Mary comes to me,
speaking words of wisdom, let it be.
And in my hour of darkness
she is standing right in front of me,
speaking words of wisdom, let it be.
Let it be, let it be, let it be, let it be.
Whisper words of wisdom, let it be.
And when the broken hearted people
living in the world agree,
there will be an answer, let it be.
For though they may be parted
there is still a chance that they will see,
there will be an answer. let it be. Let it be, let it be, .....
And when the night is cloudy,
there is still a light, that shines on me,
shine until tomorrow, let it be.
I wake up to the sound of music,
mother Mary comes to me, s
peaking words of wisdom, let it be. Let it be, let it be, .....>>.
