Iraq and Libya: lies and false sorries

It's raining hard over Istanbul. Alex, the German guy living with me at Gaf, has left 1 hour ago. He is going back to Germany, to Berlin. And it seems he's bringing also the summer away. We will meet there soon, man.
Tonight, suddenly, I heard raining and I woke up to find a blanket to cover myself. It seems that the autumn is here already. One night finally was enough to leave everything behind. But oh so many things we saw together, do you think? Will you keep them?
Well, I just have been in time yesterday to take some picture of Istanbul at sunset, the last day of summer. You can find here below.
But anyway, I am not here to bore you with these nostalgic issues. I am writing because in these days, beside many things, I happened to think about that humiliated land of Iraq. The President of United States announced the withdrawal of the American troops from the ground. Well, actually, many will stay there 1 year more, 50 thousands, but will not intervene, they say.
I am reading some comment and interview from Iraq institutions and it seems that the idea which they want to send to us is that now they are in fear to be alone.
For me, that I was once on the other side of the wall, sounds strange. Anyway, this time I am on this side of the wall and for sure I can not say. But I remember things that Iraqi citizens told my ears, 6 years ago. Then, they were also so different from what press was telling us. What I heard in the streets was like: "Give our country back, right now, we are enough to take care of it, we don't need Americans who are here just to control oil fields". Even some important politician told these ears: "I am not happy that we are not the ones who are leading the rebirth of the country. We are ready to do it, but unfortunately the violence in the country asks Americans to stay". It's clear what it meant.
Now I discover that, supposedly, what Iraqis were feeling able to do in 2004 (to defend and take care of their country) are not feeling able to do it now. So what happened in these 6 years? Well, between 100 and 200 thousands people have died. But, for the rest, it's not easy to know from here. But one thing is sure. Almost nobody, if not embedded, could go back to Baghdad. So, what exactly really happened there nobody knows, neither those who were there. But one picture on a website this morning gave me the idea of what happened there. There were a few women walking in street along a wall and the caption was: "The Adhamiya wall that separates Sunnis and Shiites". That's what happened. That's why people (maybe) are afraid not to be enough now to take care of their country.
Western countries which go to teach the respect for minorities in the Middle East is the most ridiculous thing ever. We, in Europe, don't know what it means. We historically built up ethnically and religiously cleaned countries and now, only in these last decades, are facing the so called melting pot. Someone is trying to do his best, somebody is going crazy and thinks to send all them back!! Have heard what is going on in France? What about the situation in Holland or Italy. The Middle East for centuries developed even faster than Europe and was built up on a base that is similar to what we now in Europe call "citizenship right". Similar, I said. Go and look everywhere in the East there were wars based on ethnical or religious differences, for sure you'll discover that the western countries have passed there before. Palestine between Jews and Arabs. Turkey, between Turks and Armenians and Kurds. Bosnia, between Serbians, Croatians and local Muslims, even the war between Iraq and Iran in the 80ies was supported by US and Soviet Union.
So for me that I was in Baghdad in july 2004 and I spoke with Iraqis and lived with them, I can not accept this picture. What we made? This pushes me to think that if the american withdrawal will be real, anything can be but not worse. I warn the Us against using a kind of dirty device control on the country like they did in Afghanistan which ended in the hands of Talibans. I hope the lesson was learnt this time. Let's hope that the withdrawal will be real and soon complete. Long live the Iraqi people!
About relations between western countries and former colonies, this week the Libyan colonel Gaddafi was in Italy for an official visit. The Italian sultan and all his asslickers were there ready to jump into action. The Italy says "sorry" for the colonization of Libya and will give back indemnities. We should have to be proud of it? We are perhaps the first and only country (after Canada to the natives) to say sorry to one of our colonies. But, as always, there's a trick. Now is Libya that is colonizing Italy, because since the Italian Sultan is in power his best resource, if he can not abuse or buy enemies, is the asslicking. And according to the images I have seen on tv, he could do it very well this time: look how many berber thoroughbred horses were in the streets of Rome. That's because we need Libyan gas and somebody to stop immigrants as the Italian Sultan in vain promised to voters. One question, mister Sultan: when Italy will say sorry for the million people dead in the Horn Africa killed by the Italian colonialism according to the researches of Angelo Del Boca? Why don't you try to lick also the ass of the leaders of Al-Shabaab and Hizbul Islam militias? I am sure they have a good memory of Italy. Ah, there's no need to say sorry because there's no convenience? Understand.
